Sock Wars

I've never participated in any sort of blog/internet knitting exchange. I've never done Sockapolooza, Socktoberfest, etc...I didn't even complete the Olympic Challenge (I was too sleep challenged, LOL). My mother is on the 'FlyBaby' groups, and sent my a message in which someone mentions doing "Sock Wars". This sounds like fun! It's too late to join this year, but some day I hope to be part of one of these exchanges. Although I like knitting for others--spontaneous gifting, not requested things--I get a little selfish with my knitting time. If I'm going to spend my little time knitting, I want it to be for me, or someone I know and know they will appreciate it, or to put in the sale box for if I ever do a sale again. The thought of all that knitting....to give it to a stranger...I know, I'm selfish. I'll be getting a pair of socks (or whatever) in return....what's my problem?

Is there anyone out there that would like to do an exchange? Perhaps in February, once we've finished all the Christmas knitting, LOL. Let me know, give me some theme ideas---"Sock Love" for Valentines' Day? Pink socks for Breast Cancer research? Blue for the arthritis society? Yellow socks for the Canadian Cancer Society's daffodil campaign? Some ideas?
